SIERRA CLUB ENDORSES DAVE MARSDEN
Conservation group praises work to protect Virginia’s environment
The Virginia Chapter of the Sierra Club announced its endorsement of Senator Dave Marsden (D) in the 2015 election of Virginia’s 37th Senate District.
“Senator Marsden earned Sierra Club’s endorsement because he is a leader in the Virginia Senate on environmental protection.” Tyla Matteson, Political Chair of the Sierra Club Virginia Chapter said. “Sen. Marsden understands that sound resource management is critical to our state’s tourism industries and business development.” Sen. Marsden was a recipient of the Sierra Club Virginia Chapter’s 2014 Legislative Leader Award for his work to protect the recreational activities of kayakers and boaters.
“I’m honored to have the endorsement of the Sierra Club. Environmental policy decisions will have greater impact now compared to at any time in our nation’s history, it is good to know the Sierra Club is vigilant in pressing for the highest standards of environmental stewardship.” Sen. Marsden, candidate for re-election to the 37th Senate seat, responded.
“Sen. Marsden’s support for renewable energy as a pathway to cleaner air and homegrown jobs reflects his understanding that we need to grow our clean energy economy in Virginia,” Ivy Main, Chair of the Sierra Club Virginia Chapter said. “Virginia needs more clean energy champions in the Legislature and Sen. Marsden has the skills, values and energy to lead on this important issue.”
